Sabrina Aylen Vega died in a fire at a flat in Puerto Deseado in south-eastern Argentina, and a murder investigation has been launched after it appears the blaze was started deliberately
A young mum has been burned to death in a flat blaze after posting an ominous message about her boyfriend online.
After neighbours noticed smoke, firefighters forced their way into the apartment and found the charred body of Sabrina Aylen Vega lying on the floor. The front door is understood to have been unlocked, but blocked by objects inside the flat. Additionally towels had been tightly packed under the door to prevent smoke from escaping.
CCTV images showed the victim arriving at the apartment with her partner, Maximiliano Oviedo, who fled the scene once the fire started. And police investigating the case believe that the fire was deliberately started with the intention of killing the person inside.
Forensic officers after examining the remains of the flat after the fire ruled out the possibility that it had started by accident. And the main suspect is Sabrina’s partner who was found him hiding out in a remote area near a canyon later the same day.
The fire broke out in the flat in Puerto Deseado in south-eastern Argentina, last Monday. Before her death, the mother-of-one had left public clues about her apparently toxic relationship with the suspect, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Three days before her alleged murder, she posted a photo of her with Maximiliano alongside the message: “And so, with his daft face and being difficult to deal with, and me with my s***** temper, we understand each other. Two toxic people who can’t be apart. I love you, son of a b****, nobody can stand it and nobody could understand.”
She also shared other posts revealing an apparently toxic dynamic between the two, with memes about couples overcoming obstacles and staying together when things aren’t going well. She usually included phrases that suggested they would continue to be together even though the rest of the world might not understand.
Neighbours have also played an important part in the investigation with people claiming to have heard arguments coming from inside the apartment the day before the fire and on the same day. Then on the same day as Sabrina’s body was found, police located Oviedo in an open area near the Mirador canyon.
Police are now waiting for autopsy results to determine whether the victim died from the blaze, smoke inhalation, or from injuries beforehand. Her young daughter, from a previous relationship, is being cared for by relatives. The investigation is ongoing.
